The Swiss speciality chemicals company Clariant has introduced a new rheology modifier for the formulation of sunscreens that combines high stability, improved sun protection and high-quality sensory properties. Rheological modifiers are used to increase the viscosity of preparations. According to Clariant, Aristoflex SUN has been developed both for sun protection products and for daily UV protection. The rheology modifier stabilises UV filters, improves the sun protection factor performance and at the same time enables light textures with a pleasant skin feel.

Trend towards daily sun care

"With the growing trend towards multifunctional skin care products, Aristoflex SUN helps formulators to develop sun care solutions with superior stability, high SPF and visual appeal," emphasises Sophia Kim, Global Marketing Manager Skin Care at Clariant. The new product Aristoflex SUN follows the trend towards the "skinification of sun care" - daily sun care that integrates a sun protection factor into everyday cosmetic products. The demand for multifunctional skin care solutions that combine UV protection with light textures and skin care benefits is growing continuously.

Cold processing

Aristoflex SUN can be processed cold and is therefore considered sustainable. The synthetic product offers formulators the advantage of a pre-neutralised polymer with good thickening and texture properties and at the same time guarantees high UV filter stability.
