A Natural Thickener Derived From a Tropical Plant

Solagum Claims to Be More Effective Than Proven Rheology Modifiers

Seppic has added a new ingredient to its portfolio of plant gums. According to the manufacturer, Solagum GM is an ecologically designed gum of 100 per cent natural origin with thickening and moisturising properties. It is suitable for a wide range of galenics and textures, including gels and emulsions.

Non-Stringy and Non-Sticky Consistency

The ingredient is derived from glucomannan and extracted from the tubers of the tropical plant Amorphophallus muelleri. When 1 per cent is added to natural formulations with a soft texture, Solagum can thicken them ten times more effectively than xanthan gum without creating any strings or a sticky consistency. It is able to provide a moisturising effect for up to 24 hours. The company says this is clinically proven.

Suitable For All Skin Types

Solagum GM complies with Chinese regulations as well as being Cosmos-approved, readily biodegradable and free from microplastics. The ingredient can be cold processed, protects the skin's microbiome and is suitable for all skin types.
