The new edition of the German minimum standard for determining the recyclability of packaging has been published by the Central Agency Packaging Register (Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister, ZSVR). With this, the recycling of fibre-based packaging is newly regulated. In future, for fibre-based composite packaging that does not typically contain dry contents, evidence of recyclability must be provided. The same applies for paper packaging that contain liquids or paste contents. This decision was made because in the wake of the plastic backlash, the production of fibre-based packaging is on the rise.
