Artificial intelligence (AI) is to make plastic packaging more sustainable. To this end, the "AI application hub for plastic packaging - sustainable circular economy through artificial intelligence" has now been launched. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany. 51 partners from business, science and society work together in two innovation laboratories. The KIOptiPack laboratory is intended to enable practical AI-supported tools for product design and the high-quality production of plastic packaging with a high proportion of recyclates. The aim of the K3I-Cycling laboratory is to improve the quantity and quality of the material recycling of post-consumer plastic packaging waste.
